Unlike a respray or touch-up repair, it doesn’t add new paint — it corrects the existing paintwork. It’s typically carried out in stages, from a heavier compound for more noticeable marks through to a finer polish that restores gloss.
What machine polishing can address
Machine polishing is best suited to cosmetic imperfections sitting within the clear coat, rather than damage that’s gone through to the paint or bare metal. Common issues we correct include:
- Swirl marks — fine circular scratches usually caused by washing or drying with the wrong technique or materials
- Light surface scratches — marks you can feel but that haven’t cut through the clear coat into the colour coat
